The Solicitors Regulation Authority has launched a new searchable, online law firm database which, it states, will improve access to information about the 10,000 plus law firms which they regulate.

Called “Law firm search” the database, which can be searched by name or firm ID, will allow anyone wanting to use a law firm to check whether it is authorised by the SRA and to access limited firm data, such as contact details, but does not include disciplinary or service information.

The data, which is updated daily and is free to access, re-publish and share, complements data already available through the Law Society’s “Find a Solicitor” service which provides rather more comprehensive information about firms including branch office details and solicitors in the organisation.
