Bar Council issues guide to tackling sexual harassment
The Bar Council has issued new guidance to barristers and chambers on how to deal with allegations of sexual harassment against a member of chambers, chambers’ staff or any other person whose conduct chambers may have some responsibility for or influence over.
The guidance, entitled Tackling Sexual Harassment: Information for Chambers, looks at the definition of sexual harassment and the requirement on Chambers to have a proper procedure for handling complaints of sexual harassment, provides advice for those making a complaint and outlines the duties of Heads of Chambers and the obligations to report
certain matters to the Bar Standards Board.
The Guidance can be found on the Bar Council web site at www.barcouncil.org.uk/media/409759/dealing_with_sexual_harassment_in_chambers_december_2015.pdf
