SRA Consultation
Consultation closes on Tuesday 23 April 2012.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has issued a consultation on changes to rules 4 and 22 of the SRA Practice Framework Rules in respect of the link with section 15 of the Legal Services Act for in-house practice.
The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on proposed amendments to rule 4 to help clarify the purpose and limitations of the rule in relation to the statutory position under section 15. The proposed changes are planned to coincide with the end of the transitional provisions mentioned above and the proposed changes related to these provisions. The consultation is not intended as a wider review of the area of in-house practice which we anticipate undertaking later this year.
The proposed amendments also address the transitional provisions which appear in rule 22.7. These reflect the deferral of some aspects of rule 4 when the Handbook came into effect in October 2011.
