The Isle of Man Law Society is the educational, representative and regulatory body of the Manx Bar and works to improve access to the law generally and provide representation, services and support for members, and to deal with complaints from the public about members of the profession.
The Law Society of Ireland is the educational, representative and regulatory body for the 12,000 solicitors in Ireland. It exercises statutory functions under the Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2008 in relation to the education, admission, enrolment, discipline and regulation of the solicitors’ profession.
The Law Society of Northern Ireland acts as the regulatory authority for solicitors in Northern Ireland with responsibility for education, accounts, discipline, and professional conduct.
The Law Society of Scotland is the governing body for Scottish solicitors and its role is to promote the interests of the solicitors’ profession in Scotland and the interests of the public in relation to the profession
The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) represents more than 700,000 European lawyers. It acts as the liaison between the EU and Europe’s national bars and law societies and has regular institutional contacts with those European Commission officials, and members and staff of the European Parliament, who deal with issues affecting the legal profession.
