The Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) was established in 1984 to promote and improve the advising and representation of immigrants, to provide information to members on domestic and European immigration, refugee and nationality law and to secure a non-racist, non-sexist, just and equitable system of immigration, refugee and nationality law practice.
ILPA now has around 1,000 members including lawyers, advice workers, academics and law students and is regularly consulted by the Government on key issues relating to immigration, refugee and nationality law. It is a company limited by guarantee and has an elected Executive Committee comprising a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, up to eight other Executive Committee Members and a nominated President.
